Restaurant in Malibu is a project for a new eatery on Highway 1 across from Carbon Beach. The menu is both rarefied and casual. We aligned the architecture with this sense of the rarefied, but do it with casual means - almost offhandedly as though on a whim or as an afterthought. Our proposal uses big unfolded boxes to organize the major elements of the plan, and stacks of stock material at the scale of details.
